I wanted to take a minute and send out a huge “thank you” to you and your company. I cannot say enough good things about PetPlan. You all have been such a life line to us in this lousy situation and I truly am so thankful that my vet recommended your company when I was asking about pet insurance. I have spread your name far and wide and hope that more people do the smart thing and buy insurance for their four-legged babies!
Warm regards,
Patricia McNulty
Thank you for following up on Rusty; we have received the check and appreciate your prompt handling of his claims. The web site for Doodle owners (Doodlekisses.com) had a discussion last week regarding pet insurance companies; I posted about the excellent experience that we have had with Petplan, which received several positive responses from other owners considering insurance.
I have some questions on sharing Rusty’s story, which we would love to do, as it is an amazing story of his battle with cancer and will to live. Rusty will be two at the end of this month and it is extremely rare for a dog under two to develop such an aggressive cancer. It is also a wonderful story for Petplan, as without insurance, we could not have afforded the level of care that Rusty needs if he is going to beat the odds and win his battle with cancer. He is a remarkable dog (don’t tell him) that has a strong desire to live and enjoy everyday to the fullest, along with very loving parents and two of the best cancer Doctors in the nation.
I have kept a diary “Rusty’s Cancer Chronicles” which is now approximately 15 pages in length; much to long for your use, but I can easily do a condensed version for you. What is your preferred length for an article or story?
Obviously, I have dozens of photos of Rusty, including his before/after X Rays, documenting his surgery, recovery and resuming life on three legs. I have attached one “teaser” photo for you.
I have also just completed a video of Rusty surfing in our swimming pool on three legs (I did a video last year when he had all four legs) that I will upload to You Tube. It is remarkable seeing him surfing on three legs; he does not realize that he is missing a leg.

We have a 7 mo. Yorkshire Terrier named Linus; healthy, rambunctious, loving and full of life. About a month ago, Linus fell into a very mysterious and sudden illness that, even as of today, 3 different vets plus a specialised radiologist are not able to come up with any one conclusive diagnosis. We had fed him his dinner at his usual dinner time and he wolfed it up — as usual. Twenty minutes later, he was rolled up and in pain, hiding in his bed. The tiny bit of carrot that I provide him as a treat post-dinner (sort of like dessert) was still sitting on the floor untouched. He was breathing and wheezing heavily out of his mouth, not through his nose, and constantly trying to cough up something, possibly his dinner? With sheer panic running through our bodies, we rushed him to the nearest ER facility Veterinary hospital. With x-rays and thorough examinations, doctors could only see that his lungs experienced a sudden trauma but from where and what, they couldn’t say. With follow-up examinations with his primary vet, there was still no firm diagnosis other than a possible pneumonia, for which he had been given a 10 day antibiotics.
I’m happy to report that today Linus is well and healthy, bouncy, rambunctious, still the trouble-causing baby that we so love. Our experience would have been far worse had it not been for PetPlan and its reliable customer care, reimbursement as promised by the policy that Linus is under, and its quick processing system. We received our reimbursement check within 3-4 weeks of the claim.
We’ve had other pet insurances before for different pets but none has ever worked as straightforward and simple as PetPlan. I cannot praise PetPlan enough and stress how important it is for concerned parents out there looking for a reliable insurance for their furry family members that PetPlan is as honest and trustworthy as they come. Don’t short-change the health of your little creatures and take the worry out of health care.

If it were not for Petplan my little Midge might not be here today. Thanks again. I am spreading the word on how responsive petplan has been.
I had always given my Yorkie, Ralphie, a small rawhide bone to chew on. He loved them. In March 2010, just like any other day I gave him a bone. Not more than a couple minutes afterward, Ralphie screamed in pain. He had swallowed the rawhide bone whole! I called the Vet’s office and talked to the on-call doctor since it was very late. He told me that we needed to make Ralphie regurgitate the bone otherwise once it got in the intestines they would rupture and he would die. We followed the Vet’s instructions and sure enough out came the rawhide bone. The next couple of days Ralphie was very quiet and laid around. I took him in to the Vet’s office to be checked out. After X-Rays and a comprehensive exam, we discovered that Ralphie had injured his back during the rawhide incident. He has been to the Vet’s office countless times for back pain and stomach issues. The pain medicine upset Ralphie’s stomach, so round and round we went trying to find the right combination for Ralphie. He is doing much better now. PetPlan has been great. They have paid on all the claims in a very timely manner. I’m so thankful I have Ralphie covered thru PetPlan. My Vet’s office is impressed with how PetPlan has paid for all of Ralphie’s visits. They are not happy with their current pet insurance and are thinking of switching to PetPlan.
Thanks PetPlan!! You are GREAT!!

I am so thankful that I decided to enroll with Pet Plan last fall. This year our dog ruptured a ligament in her knee and needed surgery and Pet Plan really came through for us. They re-imbursed us the exact amounts that our coverage gave us within 1 or 2 weeks of receiving our claims. It made the situation that much less stressfull, it would have been a nightmare without the Pet Plan coverage that we have. I will be happy to stay with Pet Plan for as long as I have a pet. Thank you!
You guys recently handled a claim for a snake bite for my one-year-old lab, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that having our PetPlan policy let us get him the treatment he needed to stay alive. Two and a half weeks later, he’s back to his outrageously enthusiastic self, and I am not buried in debt after bills totaling nearly $4K. The service Petplan provided was so personal, prompt, and compassionate that I felt compelled to send you a copy of the review and a photo of Zeke. Thank you so much for being there for both animals and their human caretakers. With gratitude, Dana Mortensen.
I bought PetPlan after careful and exhaustive research of all pet insurance, hoping never to use it, but thinking that it just made sense to have it. I was not paid or prompted by PetPlan to write this blog post. That would be ridiculous, of course, because I wouldn’t know if it worked unless my pet was ill, but I’m saying it anyway because you never know how some people think. I only identified the company in my post because I was impressed by their customer service and fast response. The moral of this post is to put all medication up very high–higher than you think necessary–for the protection of your pet and that pet insurance is worth the expense.
When we got our chocolate lab, Charlie, last spring it had crossed our mind that we should get some pet insurance. We had forgotten until open enrollment for our health benefits opened up and I was reminded of pet insurance. My husband and I decided that it might be a good idea as labs are prone to get into anything and it’s better to be safe then sorry. We never thought we would actually need it for any emergency but it would be good to have. Well we needed it! In June of this year, Charlie now 15 months, was scheduled for a routine check up with shots. My husband took him in and mentioned to the doctor that Charlie seemed to have an upset stomach. The doctor asked if he could do a quick x-ray to make sure that everything was ok and ended up finding a rock the size of a ping pong ball in his small intestines. We had a couple of options to remove the rock, neither one of them inexpensive and chose to do surgery to prevent further damage. After Charlie came home I submitted all of the bills and within 2 weeks we had a check at our house. It was fantastic and so easy. I am so glad that we have coverage for Charlie.
ANOTHER CRAPPY INSURANCE COMPANY.
I paid for 2 large dogs for years. When it came to needing coverage, they denied the claim due to a medication that was used once 2-3 years prior to signing up for their insurance, and said that mediation was a “clinical sign” of the condition and denied coverage. Then they refused to cancel me. I had to change my credit card number.
My dog had an ACL injury 1 years and 3 days after his first one (which is required by the policy), Pet Plan “denied” the claim due to a date input error on their staffs part showing it was prior to the one year requirement. They also covered them self by saying he hurt his ACL due to the signs of arthritis he has experienced in the past, which caused my vet to about wet his pants laughing. The vet wrote a letter telling them their excuse for denying the claim was ridiculous and that the signs of arthritis was no way a cause of the ACL injury. I sent all the required documents for an appeal to Pet Plan on December 23, 2011, received an email shortly thereafter telling me that all documents have been received and cases are resolved in 2-4 weeks. Here I sit 8 weeks later with no resolution, yet when you call them and their hold music makes you feel all warm and fuzzy stating “they will not abandon you or your pet in your time of need”. Yeah right! I would highly recommend NOT using Pet Plan for your pet insurance. Find someone else, I am going to.
