The Snowshoe is a cross between Siamese cats and American Bicolor cats (cats with a white spotting factor). The result is a breed that has a Siamese-looking body and points, with white paws and some white facial markings. These cats are muscular and medium to medium-large. The Snowshoe is still a somewhat rare breed.

Snowshoes are often bred to Snowshoes now, and the addition of the American Shorthair to the breed (American Bicolor) was of benefit to their health. There are no health problems specifically linked to this breed.
