The Ragdoll was created from non-purebred cats (a Persian-type cat and a Birman-type cat) in the 1960s. This is a very popular breed of cat. This is a large cat, weighing 15 to 20 or 25 pounds. They have medium long hair.

The Ragdoll is predisposed toward Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Ragdolls are also prone to Mucopolysaccharidosis MPS1 (Lysosomal Storage Disease).
