The Ocicat is a rather rare breed. They are a domestic cat breed that resembles a wild cat. This is an Agouti spotted cat of moderate type. The appearance of the breed was produced more or less by accident. Abyssinian-Siamese crosses were made with the hope of producing Abyssinians with Siamese points. When they were bred back to Siamese, the result was the spotted Ocicat. American Shorthairs were added later to change the preferred body type.
Drawing on the gene pools of three breeds, including the relatively healthy American Shorthair, the Ocicat is not known to be prone to any particular breed-related diseases.
