The term “domestic longhair” is used to describe long haired cats that do not belong to a recognized breed. They can come in any color as long as the coat is long. They can be any size or weight.

The domestic longhair can be particularly prone to matting if their coat isn’t groomed regularly and they can be hurt if an owner tries to cut out mats close to the skin. They can also be prone to skin problems.
