The Cymric is very much like a long haired version of the Manx cat and is also tailless. She does seem to come from the same part of the world — the Isle of Man, and was seen in Wales early on. The Cymric is considered a rare breed.

The tailless condition of the Cymric can be lethal if the cat inherits two tailless genes. Embryos that form with two such genes are usually miscarried so Cymric litters tend to be small. The Cymric is also subject to Manx Syndrome. Manx Syndrome is normally a fatal defect caused by shortening the spine. It can also result in other health problems if the cat survives. It’s related to taillessness. They can also have spina bifida or gaps in the vertebrae.
