The Chartreux probably dates back to the 16th century. Breeders are trying to ensure that the breed stays in this traditional form. The Chartreux has a blue/gray coat and copper eyes. They are a large cat, weighing 12 to 16 pounds.
The Chartreux can have problems with luxating patellas. They can also have teeth problems from incisors that are too close together. Gingivitis can also be a problem. Hip dysplasia can also be a problem.
