The American Curl has unusual curled ears, presumably due to a spontaneous mutation. The American Curl is a medium-sized cat that weighs 5 to 10 pounds.

Kittens are born with straight ears and they begin to curl within ten days. The ears do not curl any more after they are four months old.

It’s believed that there is a large domestic gene pool behind the American Curl and breeders report that the American Curl is very hardy. They report no specific genetic problems.
